What is Gagaku? It is an ancient Japanese music.

Japanese gagaku refers to ancient Japanese ritual music and dance, music and dance introduced from China, India, and Vietnam, and music arranged in a uniquely Japanese style during the Heian period.
It is a traditional musical form with a history of over 1200 years.

During this experience, you will see the performance of a wind instrument called ”sho”, which is mainly made of bamboo.
Unlike a harmonica, which produces sound by breathing in and out, the sho generates sound by blowing into it, and adjusts the pitch by manipulating the holes in the tube with your fingers. You can play different tones and notes by moving your fingers.

The instruments played in gagaku include wind instruments, string instruments, and percussion instruments, and the arrangement is the same as that of a Western music orchestra.

Gagaku is mainly played during host negotiations and festivals, as well as at temple and shrine festivals and weddings.
So this is a very rare opportunity. We hope you will enjoy its beautiful and unique sound.
