Nanasha Shrine is the place to experience the Japanese culture we offer.
A quiet and refreshing shrine in Tokyo that is also known as a power spot. It is said to bring various benefits such as matchmaking, children, safe childbirth, family harmony, career advancement, travel safety, traffic safety, business prosperity, and financial luck.
It was founded in 1793, but a fire destroyed the details of its founding. Originally located near here, it was moved to its current location and has a history of over 150 years.
Although the grounds are compact, there are many things to see within the grounds, such as the beautiful dance hall, the spectacular double cherry blossoms in front of the main shrine, the stump of a 1,000-year-old pine tree, and a large ginkgo tree that is considered a sacred tree.
The double cherry tree in front of the main hall is a rare cherry tree whose color changes from pale green to pale pink throughout the blooming and leaf-falling seasons.
Although the blooming season varies, there are Someiyoshino cherry trees in the precincts and a park nearby that is famous for its cherry blossoms, so a visit during cherry blossom season is also recommended.
Nanasha Shrine is also famous as the site of Eiichi Shibusawa, who founded Japan’s first bank, founded more than 500 companies, and engaged in philanthropic activities. In 2024, Shibusawa’s portrait will be featured on Japan’s new 10,000 yen bill.
