Many people draw omikuji at shrines and temples.Let’s draw a fortune and receive the words you need for our current self.

Omikuji is an oracle that is believed to express the will of a daity in the act of “kuji,” which decides things fairly.
In the old days, samurai used to draw omikuji to divine the course of battles.

Nowadays, omikuji are used to predict what will happen in the future or to divine good or bad fortune, but the original meaning of drawing omikuji was to “ask for a sign of the direction you should go” as a guide when you are at a crossroad in your life.

So, instead of getting all excited and sad about the contents of the fortune you drew, I think it would be a good idea to pay attention to the written words and use them as a reference in your daily life.

However, since you would like to know the meaning of the good or bad fortune you draw, please refer to the following.

■ Note that this order may differ slightly depending on the shrine or the source.

大吉(Daikichi ):excellent luck
吉(Kichi):Good luck
中吉(Chukichi):Medium good luck
小吉(Shokichi ):small good luck
末吉(Suekichi):Last good luck
凶(Kyou):Bad luck
大凶(Daikyou):very bad luck

■ How to draw Omikuji

・Visit the shrine or temple first.
(*Please refer to another article on how to visit a shrine or temple.)

・Put money in the box and choose only one omikuji to draw.
・After drawing, you can either tie the omikuji to a designated place at the shrine or temple or take it home. It’s recommended to occasionally revisit the content for life guidance.

However, do not throw it away. If you do not need to keep it, it does not have to be at the place where you drew the omikuji, but it should eventually be returned to the shrine or temple.

Generally speaking, it is a good idea to return fortunes drawn at temples to the temple, and fortunes drawn at shrines to the shrine.

I hope you all have a wonderful future.
